(hugs) It IS hard. When I had to say goodbye to my students and select coworkers (especially my boss), I felt quite a bit of heartache. I had established an identity based on my independence and my job as an English teacher to these kids. Having to say goodbye to them helped me see just how much they've made an impact on me, and only after almost one year.
I think that's kind of what you're feeling now, at least to an extent. And know that if you ever need anyone to listen or help you through it, contact me (chat, email, text, call). People will tell you that it'll get better, that you should focus on the good times--and you will. But I think that the heartache also emphasizes just how important these people are to you.
Oh yes, I know that it will get better over time, and that it isn't goodbye for good. The pain really does emphasize just how much of a family we became for each other while living here in Oslo, and I don't think distance is going to change that at all.
I just need a little time to get used to the knowledge that I can't bother these two whenever I want now. ): But once I'm in England this weekend, I think I'll start feeling better.
